About me
My name is Bo Grooten, I am 23 years old and I believe that together we can prevent and tackle domestic violence.
When I was younger, I have experienced domestic violence and know how this can break you physically and mentally. At this time, my self-esteem was so low and I was so shy and often scared. But I always knew that tough little girl was still there. So I never stopped working on myself and loving myself. My positive mindset turned me into the confident woman I am today.
I want to be an inspiration of how you can overcome any bad situation with the right mindset, knowledge and help. I believe that as long as your heart is beating, it is never too late to make change.
I want to educate you about the signs of domestic violence. This way, you can recognize domestic violence by others, or yourself. Then, I want you to take action.
Domestic violence almost never passes without outside help. And once it starts, it often gets progressively worse. That is why it is important to ask for or offer help at an early stage.
My message for you: Make this change with me: dare to speak up!
Beauty pageants
Miss Beauty of Drenthe
My love for beauty pageants began in 2022, when I was scouted for Miss Beauty of Drenthe 2023. Actually I was too shy and too insecure, but with the supportive words of my boyfriend I took the plunge.
I was able to develop a lot during this process. This really helped me come out of my shell and realized my value and that I deserve to be heard!
Ultimately I became 4th in this provincial competition. A placement that I had never dared to dream of...
Miss Grand Drenthe 2023
Because I got so much personal development and joy from the Miss Beauty journey, I started looking for my next challenge. After carefully scanning all types of beauty pageants, my heart skipped a beat when I saw the Miss Grand pageant. The extravagantness, but also the goal of advocating against war and violence, triggerd me very much.
My dream came true when I was chosen to represent my province of Drenthe in the national competition of Miss Grand Netherlands 2023.
During this process I especially learned how you can make a difference as a Miss. This pageant was also followed internationally, and I noticed that people were showing a lot of interest in my story, and I wanted to be an inspiration for them.
Now I can call myself 3rd runner up of Miss Grand Netherlands. An achievement I am extremely proud of!
Miss Supranational Netherlands 2024
Since Saturday March 23, 2024 I may call myself Miss Supranational Netherlands 2024! Therefore, I will be representing the Netherlands during the 15th final of Miss Supranational. The final will take place in Nowy Sącz, Poland and 65 countries will participate.
I would like to thank the organization of 12 Months of Beauty for this fantastic opportunity and their trust in me. I can't wait to represent the Netherlands and speak out against domestic violence at this major international pageant!
